Sexual abuse and exploitation combined with domestic violence is a nationwide problem. However, each state is at liberty to take action of sit on the side lines. Every day I see news reports that there are budget cuts to some of the programs needed to help protect these victims.
I wonder if they realize that no matter the situation there are always victims; sometimes victims that don't have a choice to leave safely. I read something the other day that was so clear and to the point: [If we help the women (of domestic violence), then we save the children.]
I hope that someday we can bring national awareness to this issue. It isn't a state-by-state issue; even though that is the way many laws are setup. We have to help those who cannot help themselves and give thier struggle a voice.
